Mind Studio FAQ
What file format does Mind Studio use?
Projects are saved as
.kwt files — a compressed archive containing map data, kanban state, and metadata. Back up regularly. Is cloud sync available?
Cloud sync is on our roadmap. Currently, sync projects manually via OneDrive, Dropbox, or shared network drives. Avoid opening the same file on two machines simultaneously.
How many nodes can a mind map have?
Mind Studio handles 1,000+ nodes on recommended hardware (8 GB RAM). Very large maps may benefit from collapsing branches or splitting into linked sub-projects.
Can I collaborate in real time?
Real-time collaboration is planned for a future release. Export PDF or share the .kwt file for async collaboration today.
Does Mind Studio work offline?
Yes — all features work offline after activation. Internet is only needed for license validation and updates.
Can I import from XMind or MindMeister?
Import OPML and Markdown outlines via File → Import. Native XMind (.xmind) import is planned — export OPML from XMind as a workaround.
