Error Codes

Reference for KWT Labs error codes — what they mean, why they happen, and how to fix them.

Error 101

Activation Error

Meaning
The license server could not validate your activation request.
Cause
Invalid or expired license key, no internet connection, firewall blocking the license server, or the key is already activated on another machine.
Solution
Verify your key is copied correctly with no extra spaces. Check your internet connection and temporarily disable VPN. Deactivate the license on your old PC before transferring. If offline, use offline activation. Contact support@kwtlabs.com with your order email if the problem persists.
Error 203

Database Error

Meaning
KWT Labs could not read or write its local project database.
Cause
Corrupted crawl database, insufficient disk space, file permissions blocked by antivirus, or the database file is locked by another process.
Solution
Close all KWT Labs applications. Free disk space on your system drive. Add an antivirus exclusion for %AppData%\KWT Labs. Delete the corrupted .kwt cache folder for the affected project (back up first). Restart and re-open the project.
Error 301

Export Error

Meaning
The export operation failed before completing.
Cause
Destination folder lacks write permission, path contains unsupported characters, insufficient disk space, or the export file is open in another program.
Solution
Export to your Desktop first. Close any program using the target file. Ensure at least 500 MB free disk space. Avoid special characters in folder names. Try a different export format to isolate the issue.
Error 404

Download Error

Meaning
The installer or update package could not be downloaded.
Cause
Unstable internet connection, corporate proxy blocking downloads, antivirus quarantining the file, or the download link has expired.
Solution
Download again from kwtlabs.com/downloads. Disable VPN temporarily. Add kwtlabs.com to your proxy allowlist. If SmartScreen blocks the file, click More info → Run anyway. Verify the file checksum on the release notes page.
